RADIO WEST OFFSHORE FISHING CLASSIC 2009

1: Competition to be conducted under the fishing rules of the Bunbury & Districts Power Boat Club, unless otherwise noted in the B&DPBC Offshore Fishing Classic Rules herein. Competition start is 0600hrs Saturday 28th February concluding 1600hrs Sunday 1st March. All times herein, will be conducted as per the B&DPBC official time clock located at club rooms.

2: All persons on board must be nominated as a competitor whether fishing or not.

Commercial fishermen and anglers fishing from commercial boats are ineligible to enter.

The entrant will be responsible for the correct completion of Nomination Forms and Entry Fees prior to close of registration at 2200hrs Friday 27th February. Entries can be mailed. To ensure a valid entry it must reach the TREASURER by last mail. February 26th, 2009 at PO BOX 146, BUNBURY, WA 6231 or be presented at the skippers briefing on FRIDAY, 27th, 2009, before 2100 hrs (No entries will be accepted after 2200hrs.)

3: Fish can be weighed in whole (not gilled and gutted) and must comply with current Dept of Fisheries regulations. All fish must be presented and maintained below 8 deg core temperature and be in top condition. Any fish not presented in top condition shall be disqualified. All fish are subject to random internal inspection by the weigh master or his delegate at anytime during the weigh in.

4: Weigh in: Will commence at 1500hrs until 1600hrs on Saturday and Sunday.

All individual competitors intending to weigh in, must be in line on the grassed area of the B&DPBC no later than 1600hrs SHARP. Fish will not be accepted after this time unless already standing in line when official cut off point is announced by a B&DPBC Fishing Committee member.

Anglers remain responsible for own catch at all times and must remove fish from weigh station immediately after being recorded. N.B. NO FISH WILL BE HUNG FOR DISPLAY - A progressive scoreboard indicating current heaviest of each species will be displayed at weigh station. Anglers are asked to use discretion when deciding to weigh catch in by monitoring the progress board.

5: Safety Officer: Has the right to cancel the competition at any time due to inclement weather or any other reasons.

If the competition is not run on Saturday 28th February due to inclement weather or other reasons, the event will be run on Sunday 1st March starting at 0600hrs concluding on Sunday 1st March at 1600hrs. If Sunday 1st March is cancelled the event will be abandoned. It shall be the skipper’s responsibility to make contact with B&DPBC radio operators or the B&DPBC Safety Officer to clarify official decisions made in regard to event cancellations. The B&DPBC Safety Officer will ensure the radio operators are made fully aware of all decisions pertaining to the competition.

In the event of abandonment any mystery prizes will be drawn from nominations received. In this situation competitors need not be present at the draw to claim their prize.

Entry monies remain non-refundable.

 

6: Entry Fee: Is $30.00 per entrant. Nominations close at 2100hrs Friday 27th February 2009. (NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED)

7: Starting Procedure: The official start time will be 0600hrs Saturday 28th February any boats leaving protected waters before this time risk disqualification of the boat and crew. All boats shall only be permitted to launch from the Bunbury Area, Port Geograph to the south and Binningup beach to the north. Any boats founds launching outside of these areas will be disqualified. (Launch area must be nominated on entry form)

Individual anglers are responsible to ensure all information is answered on the nomination form. Any form without all information included may face the risk of disqualification of that boat and its crew.

Owners of moored or oversized vessels are not required to launch at a boat ramp however these vessels may not enter open water before 6am any boat found in breach of this rule will be disqualified at the discretion of the B&DPBC Fishing Committee.

8: Presentations: Will be held on Sunday evening at 1930hrs in the club rooms of the Bunbury & Districts Power Boat Club.

Winners of mystery prizes must be present and have Photo ID or their competition receipt at draw to claim prize; mystery prizes cannot be claimed on behalf of someone else. Mystery prizes shall be drawn following the presentation of main prizes. Mystery prizes will be drawn from nomination forms received.

9: Radio Coverage: VM6FM Bunbury Radio will be monitoring channels 27.90 & 16 VHF. The B&DPBC recommends that all skippers follow safe practices whilst at sea and log on and off with the B&DPBC radio operators

10: Skippers Briefing: Will take place at the Bunbury & Districts Power Boat Club on Friday 27th February at 2000hrs. Skippers MUST be present on the night of the briefing.

11: Non-Liability: All persons taking part do so entirely at their own risk and the organisers will not be held responsible for any loss or damage sustained to persons or property.

12: Skippers Duty of Care: Skippers must be aware that they are fully responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, property and vessel at all times.
